This material can be used for a wide range of jobs as it is available in a large range of thicknesses. The thicker the sheet, the better its thermal resistance. Here are some examples of the different polycarbonate sheet thicknesses required for some common projects.
– 4mm – Good for cold frames and cloches.
– 6mm – Greenhouse glazing. Great for internal use when creating displays and vertical glazing.
– 10mm – Great for Covid 19 screens and partitions, canopies and carports.

Whilst the thickness of the sheeting affects how much light is transmitted through it, an important factor to also consider is the colour of the polycarbonate sheet:
– Clear polycarbonate: Allowing for 58% – 85% of light transmission.
– Opal polycarbonate: Limiting light transmission to 20% – 48% through this sheeting.
– Bronze polycarbonate: The darkest variation for light transmission, with 20% – 35% of light passing through.
