A dome-shaped polycarbonate rooflight is a great alternative for a flat glass skylight due to how light interacts with a curved shape. Light that travels through a dome gets bent at a larger angle than it would through a flat glass panel, meaning more light will enter the room below and it will cover a larger area. All of our fixed and opening roof domes come with an upstand (kerb) included as standard, which is important for dissipating rainwater.
Fixed Roof Domes
These polycarbonate roof domes do not open, and therefore are only suitable for areas that just require natural light and no ventilation. If you require some form of ventilation, then you can add hit & miss vents or rotary vents to the upstand directly.
Opening Roof Domes
These domes can be opened to approximately 300mm and are the same as our fixed dome rooflight in every way apart from the wormgear mechanism that opens them. The smoothest & quietest of the available gear systems, the wormgear mechanism is operated at ground level by hand with a telescopic handle (not included). This dome is the perfect option for rooms that require regular and consistent periods of ventilation.
Dome Only Rooflights
Dome only rooflights are supplied without the upstand, and are intended to be used when replacing an existing dome lid or when building your own upstand.
